David Moyes could be heading back to Everton.
The Scot is in talks over a return to the Merseyside club and is now the frontrunner to land the job.
Moyes enjoyed 11 successful years as Toffees boss between 2002 and 2013 before leaving to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
He was sacked by United after just ten months the in the job and has since had spells with Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham.
Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from Napoli on Tuesday night has seen the Italian linked to the Goodison Park vacancy and the Everton board are understood to be big admirers of the Italian.
But talkSPORT has been told Everton have Moyes in their sights, with the club considering making him interim boss before reassessing their options next summer.
Everton sacked Marco Silva last week after 18 months in charge, with the club in the relegation zone at the time of his departure.
Duncan Ferguson stepped in his caretaker manager and led the team to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the weekend, a result which moved Everton up to 14th in the table.
